
The url of a page plays and important role in improving your rank on search results page. Search engines and users see the full URL when navigating through search results. URL signal the target audience what the contents of a page is about. When set correctly, it allows your readers to have a clear understanding on what your post is about and also helps visitors find your page faster. In fact, It is better to match your Page URL with Page Title. Adding keyword in URL makes it more user friendly and attractive for users.
By default, wordPress use post IDs instead of a keyword text URL. This is bad for SEO as your links won’t be related to any keyword that you are targeting.
Although WordPress has a built-in support for SEO-friendly structure.
How to make SEO friendly URL in WordPress Website?
- Go to Admin Menu ( Dashboard )
- Go to Settings Section and Permalinks.
- Select Post name URL structure. Here I’m going to select Postname options.
- Click on Save Changes to save this structure.
WordPress will now automatically change URLs for all your previous posts . Also it will automatically redirect old url to new url.
